It was a dark and rainy Friday night...

and the rest of the Elkins' family was in bed. Except for Mom who is up doing laundry! I wanted to write a little bit about our week, although I do not have any pictures. =( That problem will be remedied in the morning when we get to San Antonio!

Peter and I completed our first-ever attempt at directing VBS. Oh wait, Peter directed VBS, I was his "go-fer". It was quite an experience, and we know a couple of things we could do better if we ever have a chance to lead again, but all in all it was a great experience, and I think the kids had a good time.

During our VBS week we also had basketball camp and swim lessons for Bradley. He was one tired kid, but I think he really enjoyed it all. Next week he heads to his first time at Cub Scout camp in Glen Rose. He's excited to earn his pocket knife badge. I'm a little concerned, because he thinks he can carry his pocket knife everywhere once he earns his badge. We'll have to frisk him everytime he leaves the house.

Next week is also a first for Laurel Ann-- swim lessons. It should be really interesting! I hope she listens and follows directions. She really loves the water, so getting her in won't be hard. It's going to be doing what the teacher wants that might be a little tough!

As I said earlier, we head to SA tomorrow. We're going in Peter's old car and coming home in a new (to us!) pick-up truck. Peter is so excited, and well he should be. He's driven a piece of junk back and forth to Meridian this year and deserves a better drive! I know he'll enjoy it!

Well, I think that's about it in the Elkins household for this week. I should have some cute pictures to post from the weekend and next week!

Random Happenings in the Elkins Household

Singing at The Taste of FBC...
Laurel Ann and her friend, Kenedy, at the fall sports award ceremony. This reminds me of me and Kenedy's aunt, Misty. I was always a head taller and twice as big as her!
Bradley's Flag Football team receiving their medals.
Laurel Ann and I visited Bradley's class and read them a story.
This one is called "Hillbilly Head-banger"
Tea party! Bradley is so talented.

Bradley participated in the spelling bee this past fall. This is a picture of all the 2nd graders spellers. (Bradley is on the top row, far left)
Here are the eventual co-champions. Bradley and the girls...apparently the lunch bell was about to ring, so they ended the bee and crowned them all champs!

Bradley's Baptism

One of the most significant happenings this Spring has been Bradley's acceptance of Jesus Christ as his Savior and his Baptism. Bradley has had many questions and discussions with me and Peter over the past year or so, and one night in April decided he was ready to ask Jesus into his heart. What a time to rejoice!

The cousins posing in front of the pulpit. Cade and Collin came with Uncle Barry and Aunt Tiffany to share in this special day with Bradley.

Our families posing for a group picture after church.

When Bradley's cousin, Collin, was baptized in the fall, Bradley was able to go with him to visit with the preacher before his baptism and to visit the baptistry. Collin was able to be with Bradley when he visited with our pastor and baptistry. Even though they live miles apart, Collin and Bradley have been able to be a part of special events in each others lives.

Kamden's Birthday party in Oklahoma

My camera has taken a trip to San Antonio, so I'm posting pictures I've downloaded from Mom's camera. These are from Kamden's birthday party which Mom, Dad and Laurel Ann went to back in May.

According to Mom and Dad, Laurel Ann and Kamden got along very well.
